Images taken during construction:
Interior removed.
Drivetrain and front body removed.
Floor cut out.
Cab lowered 3" in relation to hood by cutting metal from the body in three places: below windshield (top); rear door (middle); and rear door frame (bottom).
Frame was lengthened 4" in front by adding metal and reinforcement.
Rear frame rails moved inward 3" and lengthened 1.5". All eight leaf spring mounts were shortened 1". Hole was put through frame to accommodate fuel tank tube.
Fenders reinstalled and lengthened 4" to fit stretched frame and to accommodate larger tires. Tubing and Suzuki SJ410 grill added.
Fabrication of turbo intake tube, and of tubes to feed coolant to the oil cooler. Exhaust pipe fabricated and mounted to the transmission.
Motor in position. Intercooler tubing fabricated. Radiator & intercooler installed.
Roll-bar tubing welded into body. Half-tubes welded onto sides & back (left image). Full tubes along top, bottom, and in front of door (right image). Fuel filler tube moved up to be level with gas can filler.
Sorting out wires and vacuum tubes.
Skid plate was fabricated to hold transmission. To reduce rear driveshaft angle, motor and transmission were rotated about 15 degrees counter-clockwise and were tilted backward about 5 degrees.
Frame crossmembers added. Fuel tank skid plate welded into frame. A-frames built to mount coilover shocks. Housings built for taillights.
Front and rear bumpers fabricated. Intercooler and lights in place. Square holes in front are used for mounting a winch or tow-bar.
Coilover Shocks attached to shock towers. Rear disk-brakes are visible. Reconstructed fenders can be seen.
Mounts were fabricated for underhood components as shown clockwise from radiator: air intake, right shock tower, air-flow meter, air filter box, battery, solenoids, fuse & relay bank, radiator overflow bottle, glow plug relay, brake line equalizer, fuel filter, throttle potentiometer, hydraulic clutch, windshield washer bottle, jack, remote oil filter, left shock tower, air compressor.
Stowable winch mount welded into frame. Floor welded back into body. Repositioned fuel filler tube is visible.
Roof rack fabricated. Swinging tailgate fabricated to hold spare tire, bike rack, gas can, and high-lift-jack. Gas can is permanently attached and is tubed into the main tank.
Traction bar was fabricated to eliminate axle twist and is mounted adjacent to custom driveshaft.
Metal scrap pile resulting from project.
